Our Halloween Countdown continues!
Taffeta's pick for tonight is the 1988 directorial debut of Stan Winston, (yes that one) Pumpkinhead.
Small town man loses son when neglecting teenagers run him over. an old witch gets involved and helps resurrect a demon of revenge. This is easily one of my favorite B- monster movies that ill enjoy any time of the year. Lance Henrickson nails the grief stricken dad, and then later regrets it.
Taylor's Tuesday Pick is the 2006 creature feature The Host.
I love bad monster movies, and was excited to see this pop up on my Netflix suggestions. I was surprised by how *not terrible* it was! A crazy river monster (Formed when a dumb American pours chemicals down the drain, ha!) starts terrorizing Seoul, South Korea, but one victim's father takes matters into his own hands. (This is a Korean film, so be prepared to read subtitles.)
NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE MOVIE FROM THAT TWILIGHT LADY!
Lady Vader with Wishmaster
Wishmaster is the perfect example to flesh out the harrowing warning, "Be careful what you wish for." In this case, it's more like be careful how you word it, as the Djinn likes to have a high price for granting you any wish.
The Hell Kitty
"Alien" is still truly a beautiful and truly terrifying film that crosses both genres. It's not only sci-fi, and ground breaking, but it's terror at another level. I have seen it more times that I can count, and I know what it is going to happen, and yet, you know it's jump out and scare the ever loving shit out of you. And it's not too gory, but just gory enough.
